Mad Hatter 11/Captain David Sabouin

The 2010 season will mark the second season of the Hatter in a sailing school/charter fleet. In addition, I have been awarded a 50GT Masters license w/near coastal, sailing and towing endorsements. This will allow me to offer more services. If any of the members or readers find themselves near or ar...

Gaskets

Thanks, I actually found it just after I posted the question. Ordered some gasket material from that warehouse whose name now escapes me.

Thanks

Portlite Gaskets

Does anyone know if replacement gaskets can be purchased to replace the original gaskets? If so, where? I have been experiencing some rain entering around the ports (not all) and need to go about finding the source of the leak. Gaskets was my first on my list. Any info would be appreciated. David

Cruising the Chesapeake

Chase,
Let me know when you hit the Chesapeake and we can get together for a radio check. Or for that matter, if you are aboard sometime soon and want to do a check just let me know when and what channel.

SSB

We have an SSB aboard our new boat and I have not had any experience in using this technology. The vessel does have a ships license so I assume we can answer/transmit when desired. I would like to try to contact someone who has one aboard at a designated time and channel. Does anyone out there have ...

Pointing

In my 20years+ of sailing my CD36 I have found that the only way to point higher is to fly the main and the staysail only. Once you add the yankee you loose some angle to the wind due to the slot needed between the two headsails. So there is no way that I know of to head as high as the 35.5 that Bil...

We are located in Deale, Maryland in Herrington Harbour North a beautiful marina in a protected bay off the Chesapeake. If you know of anyone wanting to experience the Cape Dory 36 un...

The Mad Hatter 11

With the economic turndown I was not able to find an appropriate buyer for the Hatter. We will try again in a season or two. Meanwhile I am putting her in a small fleet of lesson boats run by The Sailing Academy which is located at the Herrington Harbour North Marina in Deale, Maryland. She will be ...

So Long Mad Hatter-Make way for Sierra Charlie

Well it looks like it is going to happen. Our proposal to purchase a 41 Sceptre Pilothouse has been accepted. Wow! That means I own two boats......rut row. We are really excited about the upcoming sailing season and many to follow aboard this incredible boat. But not without a tear forming and a sad...

I'll keep you posted. I think the flue length is not sufficient and I need to add a foot and a half above the deck.
