It's pretty simple

One screw to remove the plastic shoe from either end of the track, then slide the show out, and the car will come right off. On Lilypad, the track is 3/4" wide.

Do you have a lawyer?

Many lawyers will agree to be an escrow agent for various deals, assuming you already have some business relationship. An escrow agent should be neutral, so your personal lawyer may not be a good choice, but if you already have a lawyer, he probably has a buddy who will do it for a modest or no fee....

Progress at last!

I went with 1"x4" oak boards, 2 per side, because it allowed more precise shaping to the liner/hull, and gave me new beds that in exactly the same plane as a broom handle stuck in the prop tube. Here are my steps. 1. Run halyard from masthead, through a turning block temporarily tied to bo...

More than 5'10"

I'm 5'10, and in the CD27, main saloon, it is more than I need. I'd guess 6'.

Thanks to all!

Thanks for all of the responses. Duncan: The mechanic had reversed the rear brackets, so instead of extending aft of the flywheel, they were forward of it, and the mounting base was reduced from 12" to about 6-7". I've received some good suggestions about how to extend the bed, so as to ge...

An attempt at a better description

Robin & Bill - I don't have photo capability, but I'll try to describe . . . The engine is mounted on one continuous piece of fiberglass bonded to the interior of the hull, but it is not a level plane. The "topography" includes the drip pan under the engine, which is more or less recta...

CD27 repower question

I'm in the middle of repowering my CD27. (It is taking much longer than it should have, but that's another story.) My question is about the engine mounts and beds. I'm having a BETA BZ482 installed to replace a YSM8. The BETA "certified" mechanic is planning to install the front and rear m...

I've got a spare YSM8 . . .

. . . from my 1978 CD27. It was running as of haulout last Fall, but the exhaust manifold was disassembled to remove it. It needs work, but runs. Make an offer.

Hexaratchet with cam cleat

I have a hexaratchet with cam cleat bolted to the starboard stern pulpit. Mine is set up to resist the unfurling (to me, letting the sail out). The ratchet clicks when I furl, and simply slides over the locked pulley when I unfurl. Furling works great. I can luff up momentarily, give 1 good pull, an...

Volvo Ocean Race leg finish in Baltimore

I went down to Baltimore's Inner Harbor this afternoon to watch ABN AMRO One sail in after finishing the 5th Leg. The boat and boat handling were smooth and impressive, as you'd expect. The mast was almost as tall as the mainmast on the U.S.S. Constellation. More notable was the cultural difference ...

I freeze gallon jugs of water

I pour some water out first, and put them on their side in the freezer, otherwise the plastic cracks when the ice expands.

I'm in the process of repowering my CD27 with a BZ482.

The mounts need reworking, and the access some slight trimming.

The consensus on the board seems to be a 12x9 3 blade prop. for that engine and boat combination.

Do I have to worry about which wire from the battery goes to which end . . . I think DC electric devices (motors, solenoids, etc.) respond differently to reversed polarity than electronics (circuit boards). The ram would just run backwards, but I think the control circuit board would not work at al...

On my CD27, I have small Harken blocks on each starboard stanchion from the bow pulpit to the stern. They're made for attaching furler lines to stanchions. I have them close to the deck to reduce leverage on the stanchions. At the stern pulpit, I have a Harken swiveling ratchet block with a cam-clea...
