Re: Wanted: CD 14 Kick-up rudder bracket
Hi guys, I have been looking for one of these elusive parts for my 14 for some 10 years. Have not been able to find one so now I'm looking for someone who has one (oem) to take some pics and e-mail them to me so I can make it myself. I do sail this boat and have made a pop out for the rudder in case...

Re: Wanted to buy CD14 kickup rudder bracket
Hi Bruce
I think you would have better luck encountering a live T-Rex. I have been looking for a long wile and they are a rare piece of bronze. If by chance you come upon one I would be more than willing to buy the broken one for a pattern. I think I may be able to make one.

Re: CD14 New to Me!
congrats Josh Great little boat the 14. She will handle a good blow but does tend to plow. there is a lot of sail there and if you think that you need a reef you should head for the dock , she is tender and tippy and I have come very close to rollin her in a gust. I've sailed mine for a few years no...

Re: A tribute to my sailing mistress
Mike, It is a sad day when we make the decision to move on and sell a much loved boat, more so when its a Cape Dory that has served you well for a period of your life. I do know how that feels. When we made the decision to look for another boat our first thought was to find another CD but one was no...

Re: CD 14 nearing completion
Hi Joe, sorry it took so long to get back at you but I'm in the process of moving to coastal NC and just got back and have no web at the new house yet. In any case, I'm not sure what you have is what I'm looking for but I'd be willing to look at it if you could get a picture on here. I am at the poi...

Re: CD 14 nearing completion
Dan, Thanks for getting back to me. I have seen pictures of the Y thingy (not sure what it's called) but not with enough detail to try and fabricate one. Not sure I can cast it but I have some sheet brass that may be able to made into a working part. I would love it if you could get some pictures of...

Re: CD 14 nearing completion
Nice job restoring that 14. On that note I have had my CD14 for a few years now and will probably need to do the same in the not to distant future. You have given me a few pointers. I do have a question. I have that lower rudder piece but not the bronze pop up bracket that goes on it that the rudder...

Re: Nautical Charts of Lake Ontario and Thousand Islands Reg
Sorry Ed, thats me all over, dollar short and a day late. I'll keep looking cause I'm going to need a couple for next season. After that I need to start looking for some charts for the move down to North Carolina. I'll let you know when thats going to happen just in case you might want to crew for a...

Re: Nautical Charts of Lake Ontario and Thousand Islands Reg
Hi Ed How have you been? You'll be happy to know that our boat has been fixed and is back in the water finally. As all of my charts went down with the boat I should probably consider replacing them. If you get no bids on them let me know what you'll take for them. I'd be more than willing to pay a f...

Re: Do You Have Any Thoughts On This?
John, How the heck are you! You have a dilema that we all will (or have) to face sooner or later. As it sits rite now I have to thin out the fleet and am not sure what I'm going to do. With the smaller boats I think I'm going to give them to a couple of kids I know who want to start sailing on there...

A normal boat house is strap front and rear. an open boat house provides no protection from the wind and the boat starts swinging , bow strap slides off , bow goes into water ass end still in the air! Sorta looks like the Titanic!! When it comes to sinking boats I have some experence here. In 2008 w...
