Would appreciate suggestions for a method of application of Coast Guard Documentation numbers, other than routed wooden board. Engine compartment is pretty tight - any alternative placement ideas? Looking for a spot, and a method for a CD 33. Thanks and best regards, Tony B.

Documentation Numbers-Application?

Re: Documentation Numbers-Application?
PERI's documentation numbers are epoxied to the bulkhead in the galley cabinette that runs across the cabin just under and to the port of the companionway. It's a solid surface integral to the boat. Additionally, there are several layers of fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin over the numbers to thoroughly seal them in. The guy who installed these numbers really did a nice job of it, they're rectangular backed numbers like house numbers, he put a teak frame around them and indeed the fiberglass and epoxy are over that as well, done neatly, it looks quite nice.

Like Jon Larson, our number is black block lettering which has been glassed over on the inside of the hull in the sail locker. Has worked out very well.

I got an engraved plastic name plate (white letters on Hunter Green) from the same outfit (http://www.boatgraphics.com/)that I got my vinyl transom letters. Cost about $45. I attached it with double sided foam tape between the starboard ports lights in the saloon. Looks pretty rich and fulfills the requirements. BTW, would engine room placement fullfill the "plainly visable" requirement?Tony Betz wrote: Would appreciate suggestions for a method of application of Coast Guard Documentation numbers, other than routed wooden board.
