Typhoon spreader angle

Post by cyrusjordan »

the spreaders on the boat I recently bought make a 30 degree angle aftwards from the mast. This bows the mast and does not allow the upper shrouds to connect to the front toggles in a straight line from the masthead. My suspicion is that a previous owner thought the upper shrouds should connect to the aft toggle and bent the spreaders to accommodate their mistake. Are the spreaders supposed to make a right angle with the boat's center line as they come off the mast?

thanks

yea, upper shroud to forward tang.....lower shroud to aft tang.
Seems this confusion was common between many of the owners.
That makes the spreader angle 90 degrees to the axis of the boat.
Sorry.
