Maybe I'm the last one to hear, but the fellow at the local chandlery informed me that Zspar bought out Petit last year. Rather than put out competing bottom paints, they adopted the Trinidad formula for the Zspar brand bottom paint as well. If you compare the contents on the backs of the cans you'll see that Zspar bottom paint has exactly the same copper content and everything else as the Petit Trinidad. They even have the same product code number. The good news about this is that here locally the discount price for Trinidad is $ 128/gal and the price for Zspar is $ 114/gal plus the 8% California sales tax, of course. You'll notice that West doesn't even list Zspar bottom paints anymore in their catalog, forcing you to buy Petit at the higher price.
Also in case you're looking for Electro Guard zincs for your "Perry" nut, Electro Guard has not gone out of business. The local chandlery just got a shipment of EG zincs in and the shelves are full. West and Boat US have dropped EG in favor of the Canadian versions, but the EG zincs are still readily available at places other than West and B-US. Out here in Calif. the zinc only runs nine dollars and change for the C size zinc (1 inch shaft).
