Why is there no boom vang on a Typhoon?

Why is there no boom vang on a Typhoon?
There are four CD Typhoons, including mine, in our boat yard, none of them have boom vangs. Is there some stress or whatever reason why that is so. I am thinking of adding a boom vang to my boat. Any comments would be helpful.

My guess is just that nobody bought one. I'm certainly no expert, but I can think of no reason not to add one. My 25D didn't have one, and I added it. A bonus is that it makes for a simple preventer on a run; I clip it to the little buttress on a lifeline stanchion base.

Typhoons came with roller reefing, and the boom vang fitting on the boom damages the sail when you roll it. I made a wooden gaurd to place over this, but later I just abandoned the roller reefing altogether. She sails much better with the vang, attach the mast bracket as low as possible, or better, attach it to the tabernacle. JH

Re: Why is there no boom vang on a Typhoon?
I just installed one this off season. My main has a reef point, so I figured I could forego the roller furling of the main. The vang should help to depower when I need to do so. I used a snap shackle to connect the vang to a bail on the boom. The bail is rounded enough that I don't think it would harm the sail, so I can disconnec th evang and roller reef if I really need to reef more. I haven't yet sailed her with it, though, so this is all conjecture. I can post pix of the arrangement. (Also installed CDI roller furling for the foresail.)
Perhaps we'll sail tomorrow!

Boom Vang specs
Andrei:
I have a boom vang spec sheet which was prepared by Spartan Marine, the original supplier of these items. It shows the part numbers and mounting locations for boom vangs for all Cape Dorys. I can fax or snailmail a copy to you. Or anyone else who would like a copy.

I think John has that right
Yes to all the above PLUS you will truly have a better behaved and handling boat when sailing downwind with a vang. The twist that happens to the main when the boom rises off the wind is a very poor configuration. Well worth the effort to install a vang.

Re: Why is there no boom vang on a Typhoon?
Took her out. The vang was extremely helpful when sailing downwind. I didn't try roller reefing the main.
I installed it by mounting a pad eye to the mast at the very bottom. I put two bolts thru the pad eye with washers and nuts behind. I slid the washers/nuts up the mast track and tightened it all down. I attached the stainless bail to the boom with self tapping stainless screws. I clipped the top of the vang to the boom bail with a snap shackle so it can be quickly disconnected if I need to roller reef the main (not likely since my main does have a reef point). See pix.
