My CD 25 EOWYN now has a bimini

Post by Scott MacCready »

After refinishing the teak on EOWYN, I decided to give her a whole new look. I made a tiller cover, sail cover, and forward hatch cover today and purchased a new bimini all in matching navy sunbrella.
The bimini only gives me 61" of head room but will help protect me from the sun and a little rain. Or, It'll fold closed just in front of the mainsheet.
Here's some pictures: Eowyn

Something for me to think about for my CD25, Where did you find the frame at? West, US, defend, sailnet or was it custom If you have a picture of it folded up post it for us folks over 61" :~)

Looking at your photos of Eowyn reminded me of my old 1980 CD25 which also had a bimini, similar to yours. However, when closed, mine rested on deck, I did not leave it mid-air as you have yours, but tied it down to the handrails. VERY IMPORTANT, you must run lines or straps from each front side to keep the bimini stretched tight, otherwise the water will collect in the bellies... My straps ran from the forward frame to the handrails in a very easy arrangement to clip on or remove. You can see a photo in my website. Your CD looks as beautiful as they all are. Congrats.

Follow the link to see a picture of it folded reward. Also, for comparison, a picture of a CD26 which fold forward.

Zeida, Mine attaches in front to the base of my stanchions. In the rear, I have alluminum supports to keep it from leaning agains the mainsheets. Scott

I am looking for a suitable frame now, so as to keep off the afternoon sun.
