Stern Ladder Designs-Tops in Quality

Post by Brian Johnson »

I just recieved a stern ladder that I ordered from Tops In Quality. What I thought I was ordering was a ladder with a bend in it so the ladder would follow the angle of the transom for about a foot and then would be vertical after the bend. What I recieved was a straight ladder with standoffs to allow the entire ladder to remain vertical. Has anyone else installed a straight ladder. Were the factory designs straight or with the bend?? Has anyone recieved one from Tops in Quality with a bend because they told me they don't typically make them with a bend for a boat with an overhanging stern. I like the look of the bent ladder more, but is the straight ladder a better design?? I just want to make sure before I drill holes in my boat.
Thanks in advance.

Same thing happened to me. I too assumed that it would arrive pre-bent, but it didn't. I used an ordinary conduit bender to modify it to fit but I doubt the bent section is as strong as the straight part. Wish I had a better story.
