I've sanded the old ablative bottom coat off my CD27. I'm down to the gelcoat, but it's not clean...where the bottom has small concavities, there are bits of bottom coat. I plan to use Interlux CSC for the new bottom coat, but have a few questions. I notice that there are some vertical cracks in the gelcoat near the stern. There is no evidence of blistering anywhere on the hull. I had not planned to put a barrier coat on and don't know anything of the history of the boat. The boat is in the water for about 6 months of the year, and stays out of the water for the winter. Should I barrier coat? If so, what do I use to clean the hull? Can I just barrier coat over the small cracks?
Thanks in advance
Bob
