There have been several discussions around repowering, new engine selection, etc, but I haven't found much on what happens to the old engine. (other than good riddance!)
For those who have repowered, where did your old engine go? Two parties have offered to relieve me of my engine for cost, but that seems a rather unfair trade. Is it?
I'll shortly have to sell a rather old, but still operational MD-7A from a CD-30 Ketch, low compression in #2 cylinder and questionable v-drive, but otherwise running nicely. I've posted adds in the New England area Want Advertiser and on-line, but have no idea what this thing is really worth.
The worst thing about all this is that I have some subtle embarrassment about repowering, as though I should be ashamed for giving in to the little engine devils before they win completely.
Please consider this an advertisement as well as a question.
Thanks for any feedback.

Disposing of old engines

Just a small question?
Hi John,
There are a few Cape Dory 30 Ketch on the Lake Champlain, my Dad had one, I'm curius to know if you buy your CD from M.Bruce Hill at Shelburn. If so and if it was a used one, do you remember the name she had at the time.I wonder if she was in the time the sailboat that my father owned.
My Dad transmit me is passion of sailing, but sailing mean sealing with a CD. He owned many CD, and the last one he bought was a TY,it was the sailboat he dreamed when he was young. I took all the time that i could for sailing with him. I felt so lucky to be with him, sailing, drop the anchor in a bay for took a small lunch, usually at this time he try to fish, he was not too good for this ha! ha! and after a little nap we leave the bay for comming bak.
He pass away three weeks ago, i miss him a lot and I'm not sure if i will be able to sail this year (it's too painfull now) but I will keep the spirit. I NEVER see my father like a sick and old man, for my eyes he was immortal, i'm 41 and i cry like a baby when i think about him, for me he was not just my father but my friend too.
I'm sorry to bother you with my stuff, but i must tell you guys. If you sail with somebody that you love, don't take time to do it, MAKE the time to do it.
