We bought our boat new in 1983 after falling in love with a friend's Alberg 37. How many of the 36s were made and when did production actually stop? I know there was a cockpit design change made at one time, when was that? Does Robinhood Marine still have the molds for the 36?

How many CD36s manufactured?

Re: How many CD36s manufactured?
Jackie,
There was an article in Blue Water Sailing magazine (March issue?) which answers all of those questions. If my memory is correct the answers are as follows, but you may wish to get hold of the article as my memory does not always absorb details of this sort.
151 CD 36'S
layout/interior changes in '86
Three Robinhood 36's have been or are in the process of being made.
The Robinhood 36 is a little different than the CD36 in that there is a little more freeboard at the bow and the bowsprit is mouted at a different angle.
Use the search feature to go back to previous postings to find out how to get the BWS Magazine.

The major difference between your boat and the R36 is that the R36 sacrifices the hanging locker in the bow cabin for a larger head.
Sometime between 1981 and 1985, Cape Dory cut back the hanging locker in the main cabin, making a smaller HL and a set of drawers, and put a small wet locker under the chart table. Around this time they also went to a T shaped cockpit footwell. The R36 carries on with these features, and also has a moulded in locker under one of the cockpit seats for the propane tanks.
The R36 is a real nice boat. Robinhood also has the molds for the 40 and 45. They have built one 40, which was at the Annapolis show last year.

Complete CD manufacturing info
There is a complete list of dates of manufacture and numbers made for all Cape Dory models on this Web site at <a href="http://www.toolworks.com/capedory/ccdom ... mfd.htm</a>. It's not 100% accurate but we got it from some of the folks at Robinhood and it's pretty close.
