Today I ordered a new mast sailgate from Rig-Rite for our CD 30. Someone (ahem) broke the last one at the end of the season when we were removing the main--fractured it at one of the screw holes. It's a pricey little item ($69 + S/H) but since it's probably the original I figure its time had come.
It's made of anodized aluminum, and I'm curious if age or fatigue may have weakened it, or we just inadvertantly stressed it in the wrong direction.
Thoughts?

Replacement Sailgate

Re: Replacement Sailgate
Think my CD27 has a similar arrangement. The old sail gate has considerable corrosion where it is hinged. Looks like it would break there with little force.
