I have been away from ny for over ten years but lived on long island for almost sixty. There were many places you could find, relatively adjacent to long island railroad which was pretty quick to manhattan, particularly on the south shore, such as babylon, bay shore, or amityville, massapequa, or further in to the west freeport etc. There was a swell long island directory of marine services, extre,ely complete in its listings, suggest you call the nassau county chamber of commerce on long island. BTW, city island.entioned in previous posts, was always at the end of the subway line unless service has been discontinued, best of luck, ron
