For all those interested, there is a terrific and very informative article titled " The Cape Dory 36: One tough, traditional passagemaker" starting on page 40 in the March '98 issue of Blue Water Sailing magazine. It is available at West Marine or you can obtain copies from Blue Water Sailing at 1/800-888-SAIL or you can mail to them at 5 Marina Plaza, Newport, RI 02840. This is an excellent article on the 36 and Alberg. Anyone who truly appreciates the qualities of a Cape Dory Yacht should read the article/review. It is a five page article and photos broken down into the following catagories which contain quite detailed evaluations. The catagories are:
Passagemaking qualities
Performance
Accommodation
Construction
Rig, rigging & sails
Also contains an introduction of the boat and an overall conclusion.
The article is one of, if not the best article on a Cape Dory I have ever read. It certainly enhanced my appreciation of the qualities in our CD30 which I already thought very highly of. I think it is a very good article that all CD owners should read. I would sure like to own a 36 someday after reading that article. But I do love the 30 we currently own. Maybe the article could be posted to this web site for all to review. Anyone considering the purchase of a CD 36 should most definately get a copy of that article, you won't be sorry.
