Testing the waters (Market)

Post by John Dunn »

I own a 18 1/2' weekender Typhoon. I believe it must be pretty early in Cape Dory history. The number on the bronze plate is in the low 40's, I think #42. Any owner's manual that I have seen states that the cuddy has a round fixed port on either side. Mine doesn't, why?
I sail out of Oswego, N.Y., which is at the East end of Lake Ontario. I'm in my seventies and maintaining and sailing a boat is getting to be a little hard for me.The Typhoon is in pretty good shape for an old gal like her. No bangs, dings or cracks, never been under.I have a 4 wheel trailer with adjustible supports. I bought a 5 HP Mercury long shaft with F.N.R. to get in and out of my slip
I'm wondering if there's a market for an old fossil like this? If not, I'll renew my slip next year and do my thing some more. Any input or ideas are most welcome

If it were me I would keep her!! I own typhoon #727, My dad also in his seventies loves her and would only be happier on a bigger boat. If she is in good shape consider finding someone to do any work for you and simply enjoy sailing her.
