On unstepping the mast (for the first time), I didn't have the derick exactly over the mast (or the boat moved a bit), the mast was tilted and the cast iron base was cracked on one side so that the bolt is now fastened only through one hole. The other hole was cracked open. The metal cover over the cast iron base is fine. (Sorry about my terminology). My question is: can one purchase a replacement base? Or does it matter if the mast is supported only in this manner at its base? After all, most of the support is effected through the standing rigging. Thank you.
