I thought I would share a solution I stumbled across and sucessfully implemented on my CD25- Nissan 9.8 O/B- unregulated alternator.
Since I have gell cell technology..unregulated and charging are oxymorons. In dealing with Statpower (TrueCharge) on a dockside charging solution, I had a discussion of integrated charging (solar/engine/dockside). Out of the discussion came my solution for dockside/engine charging. Bought an inverter of 500 watts the TrueCharge 20 only draws 4 AMPs utilizing 11-16 VDC input. This seems to be a more cost effective solution than purchasing an external regulation device. As far as solar is concerned, the purchase of a small solar charge controller is not an expensive proposition.
