After my first season my CD26 was pulled out of the water this week and when I went to check it out I noticed small, bleeding, blue pimples (sorry but that's what they looked like) on the hull. The blue liquid didn't seem to be rust and left an ink like stain on my fingers and pocket knife. Does anybody know what this is?
Thanks.

Re: blue bleeding on hull
Uh oh Cuz. Sounds like the infamous hull blister problem (osmotic leaching of water through the gelcoat that stops/accumulates at the glass/gelcoat interface). Unfortunately, this is a somewhat common problem. There are tons of articles on the problem and how to fix it (carving out affected area and filling it) and prevent it from happening again (using a water impervious epoxy barrier paint). Depending upon how extensive the blistering is, it can be very expensive to have fixed or at least time consuming for the do it yourselfer.
Hope I'm wrong and that it's just that your boat is going through puberty!

Yeah, definately sounds like blisters. I've got the same on my CD26. I had a quote from a local boatyard to haul the boat, strip the bottom paint, open the blister, apply barrier coat and repaint with Micron CSC - $2500 to $2800, ouch. It's all in the labor. You can do it yourself if you've got the time. If you are going to tackle it before next season, get the blisters opened up so they dry over the winter.A Palmiotti wrote: After my first season my CD26 was pulled out of the water this week and when I went to check it out I noticed small, bleeding, blue pimples (sorry but that's what they looked like) on the hull.
