We bought a CD25D last winter. Can anyone give me ways to clean the water tanks. Our boat has a 20gal tank under the 1/4 berth and a 30 gal tank under the starboard berth. Both have little things floating around in them and minor scum on parts of the sides and bottoms.
Other than that it's a wonderfull boat.
Thanks, Joe

Re: Water Tanks
Hi Joe...
I recently cleaned my tanks with a mixture of bleach and liquid automatic diswashing detergent. One tank I was able to remove from the boat and washed it on the dock by filling, scrubbing with a brand new toilet brush (never used in a toilet I might add) and tilting the tank to empty. The other tank I filled with a garden hose and scrubbed. I drained it repeatedly into the bilge. Both cleaned up well. My tanks had a rusty sludge on the bottoms origionally.
Good luck.. Boyd

Re: Water Tanks
Captain Staples,
Besides what Boyd suggests, I use a 5 gallon wet/dry shop vac to drain the tanks when cleaning. It is much faster than draining to the bilge or pumping it out with your on board water pump. Toilet brush sounds good, but may be difficult to get hard to reach spots(did that sound right?). Don't tell guests that that is how you cleaned tanks though, they will NEVER believe the NEW brush thing!! For both tanks, put in a cup of bleach, fill tank, scrub, and let set 24 hours, drain tank with vacuum, stick hose spray nozzle in tank and spray all around to knock stuff off the walls and ceililng, drain tank again (pay particular attention to the junk that will collect next to the outlet fitting, this will clog the filter on the onboard water pump!), use solid hose extensions to get to that spot. Refill and you are back in business.
