Post by Bob Bryan »

I have a 1982 CD-30,and an thinking about replacing the engine.Can
anyone advise me which engine is most compatible with the existing Volvo MD7A? I would prefer not to have to re-do the footings if possible.I also will be using a V-drive.All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The Volvo 2020 is the closest match, and the folks at the London Boat Show swear by it. It is a fresh water cooled unit, and can be fitted right onto the existing engine mounts with a kit that costs about $120.00. This unit is an 18 horsepower. The 2030 engine is a 25 horsepower unit which is virtually the same engine, but, does costs more.

The engine is actually a Perkins made for Volvo-which means the parts will be less expensive than the old Volvo parts (which I am presently getting out of London for a lot less than in the USA!)

I have been also told (but not verified) that the block of this beauty is actually a Kubota!

If you wish further info-part numbers, etc. give me a hollar.
