I am looking at a boat that is advertised as a Cape Dory 22. The boat looks like a CD 22 but the title indicates it is a 1964 Seafarer. Does anyone have any info about Seafarers? Thanks.

Re: Seafarer 22?
put a cd22 or an alberg22 next to a seafarer22 or 23 and there is no resemblance. the seafarer has a much higher freeboard and a much taller coachroof. if you can check the mainsail the logo for the seafarers looks like this >

Re: Seafarer 22?
Woody,
Here's some info I gleaned from the site below.
Seafarer 22
21'8" LOA
18'4" LWL
7'9" Beam
2'10" Draft
2300# Disp.
910# Ballast
219 Sq.Ft. Sail Area
As you can see by comparing the CD-22 specs at http://www.toolworks.com/capedory/specs/cd22.htm
the CD and Seafarer are very different boats.
One way to check out what you are looking at is to check the Hull ID which will include codes for the manufacturer, the model year and month of manufacture, and the serial number. If you need help deciphering these, take a look at http://info.netscape.com/fwd/nrpussrpgg ... ow/hin.htm

Re: Seafarer 22?
Thanks for the responses. I have looked at the Seafarer website and the boat looks nothing like the Seafarer 22. It does look exactly like the CD22.Ken Coit wrote: Woody,

When I initially surveyed the vessel, I could not find the Hull ID. I don't know if the boat pre-dates hull ID's or what. I will go back this weekend and see if I can locate an ID.
What years were the CD22's built?
Thanks again.
