I need to replace the foestay on my cd25.Does anyone know the exact length of the stay? That would save me the task of taking the stay off the mast before I order the part. The CD on line manual has the measurement for the CD 25D only. Thanks

Mike:
I saw a rigger acquaintance over the weekend, and asked him this exact question (well, not about your CD25, but about whether he kept specs for production boats in general). The link below is a shameless plug for his shop.
He told me that variations in the production process, even for modern fiberglass boats, make standardizing rigging lengths a waste of time. That's why rigging shops take the old stuff and measure against it when making replacements.
If you are trying to replace the forestay in a single operation, you might consider having a rigging shop make up a length of wire rope with an aircraft eye at one end and the other end unfinished (and a couple of feet long). You could then use a turnbuckle with a Norseman or StaLok fitting at the stem, and trim the new forestay to length when you get the old one down.
I replaced the turnbuckle on my backstay a couple of years ago with a Norseman (or StaLok, I forget) fitting; it took about ten minutes with a couple of wrenches and a dab of silicone.

The following quote is from my rigger to the loft:
'From pin to pin the measurement is 28 feet 7.5 inches. In addition it measures 11.5 inches from the bottom pin to the top of the stud on the turnbuckle.'
