I need to replace my forward hatch on a CD25 1979. The only other option would be to have it re-glassed. Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like a "solid" glass, non translucent hatch (Plexiglass).
May want to take the opportunity to change it out with a Bomar hatch.
Metal frame, translucent, opening.

Dana - My main problem is finding an "off the shelf" hatch that fits the rectangular opening?

Ron,
I don't remember the specifics of the CD25. Does the deck curve upward to form an inner lip to the hatch cover? Or is it a flat framed opening? Does the non-skid come right up to the hatch cover or is there a smooth deck surface "border" around the hatch? What is the opening size?

I am out of down and won't be back at the boat for 2 weeks. Here is what I remember from measuring about a month ago.
The deck curves upward to form an inner lip. Lip seems to be very strong. Lip is about 1 1/2" high and about the same wide. There is a smooth area around the surface of the deck. The opening is approx. 16 3/4 x 22. The size has been my major problem.
The original hatch had a dorado vent hole cut into it. It is now cracked (mainly gel coat) from being stood on. The original hatch is actually very weak and should be replaced. Once again, any ideas are appreciated.
