Sail Slugs... where can you buy them?

Post by Dennis Truett »

I am just now getting around to redoing the cables inside my mast. Last summer I posted this problem about the cables banging around inside the mast (very anoying at night). I received a lot of suggestions on how to fix, but the best was to redo it the way the factory did it. I have the mast down and there is a Sail track molded on the inside. Sail slugs are tied to the cables and the slugs go into the track. great! but where do you find these slugs? I've looked in all the catalogs.

Hi Dennis,

Find your closest sailmaker and he can get you these easily. Take a slug (or mail one) to him and give a quantity. His price should be pennies on the dollar from the catalog price. One of the sailmakers' chief sources for such items is Bainbridge, the same folks who make sailcloth. You might find their catalolog and order directly from them but I believe they are wholesale only.

Hope this helps.
