great lakes water level

Post by huw »

Many reports seem to be indicating that this year, again, the level in the great lakes will be low. So please, all of you, try and cut back on drinking water. Water is needed for sailing on. I recommend that instead of water, perhaps a nice cold beer. Or maybe a refreshing chianti. But please, leave the water where it belongs. Under my keel.

Thank you.

Last year, I asked, ne -begged everyone to bring one gallon of water to the lake with them when they came to sail. It must have worked as Lake Superior is up 4in. over the previous spring. I am certain that Ma Nature helped out a tad too..so far, it has rained or snowed every single weekend at some some point (that's the half empty version..the other half of the glass says that it was sunny and nice for half of every weekend so far, and getting better!).

Cheers!

Where can I go to check official water levels for Lake Michigan? How do I adjust for the soundings on my charts?
