The compass on my CD 25 is mounted on the rear of the cabin on the port side only about 8 inches from the fuse pannel. Is this location OK or is there enough interference from the fuse pannel to affect the compass readings.

Re: Compass Location
It may be all right but do the experiment. Turn off all the electric and then on and see if it makes a difference in the compass reading. Speaker magnets as in the VHF are the real troublemakers. Also try moving your compass with electric power on and then off and see if makes a difference. But in the end make sure you adjust your compass and correct for variation and note any residual deviation such as might be caused by effects you can't get rid of no matter what you do, and take note of it when you are navigating. See Chapman. Good luck; it is no fun but critical. Will W. wrote: The compass on my CD 25 is mounted on the rear of the cabin on the port side only about 8 inches from the fuse pannel.
