Perry Nut Replacement
Hello to all
Finially, I got the old prop zinc (Perry Nut) off today and now need a replacement. I know I saw a post about troubles at "Perry Nut" but doing a searching of the archives does not work for my system or something.
So could someone PLEASE provide me with the contact information for the perry nut people so I can see if they have one, or failing that what do I use?
Thanks so much and in advance....
Bill

Go to the link below and give them a call and see if they have the one you need. If not ask them to start making them again. The company they used to mold them lost the molds so it's going to take a lot of requests to get them to make new molds and put the nuts back into production.Bill wrote: Hello to all

Re: Perry Nut Replacement
These West Marine Prop zincs are what I have always used on both of my Cape Dories. Are they different from the Perry Nut? If so how? Do we really need to get Perry back in production or do these Nuts available thru West Marine work for every one?mike wrote: West Marine has them in their catalogue. www.westmarine.com

Re: Perry Nut Replacement
I ordered the "C" nut from West Marine. It didn't want to go
on the shaft of my '79 30 ketch so good. Turns out the shaft
has a course thread and the zinc nut has a fine thread.
Just a FWIW.

See my posts below for...
...the New England (and only) contact for Genuine Perry nuts... They had seven left last month. I tried again in vain to email Perry about our loss. Unless something's changed, West does not sell Perry nuts, and there's been a lot of discussion about the limitations of the West product -- like it falls off. I saw a shaft-end zinc on a CD 24 trawler this weekend that was attached with a stainless, knurled allen bolt through the pointy end. Dunno what that was but it looked as good as a real Perry.

I got a Perry nut last year from the folks at Perry's Boat Harbor & Drydock Isleton, Ca. 95641 Their phone number is 916-777-6461.
I got the info by downloading the manual from a site whos address I found on this message board. The manual and this board are great resources...
Good luck... I may get a spare nut myself if there are problems getting these things...

Trouble finding the posts I referred to? Probably because they're not there. Here's the contact for Perry Nuts. Perry doesn't have them.
