I'll be putting my Typhoon weekender in salt water for the first time this year, so I'll be applying bottom paint. There's a red stripe around the hull (the boot stripe?), below which is about 2 inches of white, below which is some very old bottom paint. My question is, the red line seems too low to me to be above the water line. Does anyone have a picture of their Ty on a cradle or trailer from which I could confirm that I'll be painting enough of the hull?
Thanks,

Water line - where is it?

Re: Water line - where is it?
Joel: Last year I repainted my Typhoon. My boat had 3 or 4 different waterlines. Pulled my boat over to a friends who has a Typhoon. David (professional boat guy) taped it up and I had my boot strip shot. The line looks great!! I will e-mail you 3 or 4 photos.

Re: Water line - where is it?
I guess like everything it depends on who put the boot stripe on the boat however, your boat was in FRESH water. I think it is going to float a little higher in SALT water. If the factory put it on it might be OK for salt water depending on how much "stuff" you keep in the cabin and if you leave a motor on the boat. I am not sure I answered your question but did give you something to think about.Joel Bondy wrote: I'll be putting my Typhoon weekender in salt water for the first time this year, so I'll be applying bottom paint. I think the link will take you to 2 pictures of Pokey II on her trailer that show where the old bottom paint had been applied.Joel Bondy wrote: I'll be putting my Typhoon weekender in salt water for the first time this year, so I'll be applying bottom paint.
