Looking for a Typhoon Trailer

Please contact me if you have a trailer for a Cape Dory Typhoon for sale. The trailer must be highway safe. I can be reached via email at tklin@landrum-brown.com or at 860-563-1365. Thanks.

Good luck. I recently adapted a trailer for a flat-bottomed powerboat to a Ty and it was quite a job. My biggest mistake (so far) was that it was undersized - max capacity 1980 lbs. The Ty displaces 2k (empty). The tires heated up so much I blew 2 (fortunately not at the same time) on what I hope will be my only highway trip.

I looked for one also and have only been able to come up with Triad Trailers as a possibility. They are not cheap but seem to be well made. If you are only going to transport your Ty once or so, it may be better to hire it out rather than buy a trailer. You should save quite a bit of money.

You might try a long term search of this board. It sticks in my mind that there was some comment about someone in Florida that was building trailers (probably revamping old trailers) for less than $1000. I think that is quite abit less than Triad. When I bought my Typhoon it came with a revamped trailer, tandem axle. It is not great but it brought the boat from Chicago to Nebr. and I just came back from trailering it to the Mobile Bay, Al area. Great sailing down there.
