Currently I have the original Faryman one cylinder engine, which is getting tired, and underpowered. I would like to get suggestions on what engines I should consider, installation hints, modifications needed for a smooth installation. Particularly interested in the horsepower range you would recommend. Thanks

Re: repowering 1996 CD 28
I would recommend the Yanmar 2GM20(F) which is a 2 cylinder diesil of about 20 horsepower. I have a 77 CD 28 with the freshwater cooled Yanmar in it. We just completed an 800 mile trip down the Erie Canal and the St. Lawerence River and had no problems with this motor pushing the boat at hull speed even into the current and strong headwinds. We ran between 2000 and 2500 rpms the whole way. I have even managed 3-4 knots into a 35 knot breeze only turning 2500 rpms. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to e-mail me at camroll@together.netBob Cross wrote: Currently I have the original Faryman one cylinder engine, which is getting tired, and underpowered. Good Luck
