Red, there are schematics of the two boats in the section at the top of the page titled "About Cape Dorys". After you open it scroll down to the models and click on them and you can see the layouts. Very similar. How close does it have to be to be "the same"

Red,
I have owned both boats and the current one is the CD28. They appear very similar, however, ----- the CD28 has a basin, cabinet and shower wand on the starboard side opposite the head which is a hanging locker on the CD27 (in my opinion more useful than the shower and basin) and there are doors between the V-berth and head area as well as the head area and salon. The galley area is improved on the CD28 and laid out better. A big sacrifice is the lazzarette aft of the cockpit which I found wonderful and handy on the CD27. The port berth on the CD28 is better as the stove does not overhang the berth. The water tanks under each berth on the CD28 gives more "away from port" possibilities, but uses handy and valuable storage space. Some owners have removed one of the tanks to provide more storage. Big improvement in the CD28 is an additional hatch/skylight in the main salon for ventilation. There is a little more headroom in the CD28 also which at 6'3" is nice.

Read Rom's comment as it is a good start!
