Re: Find Owners
I have found that it takes some time for the data base to load. try waiting a little longer after you choose a category.

Re: Find Owners
I have had the same problem. The information jumps on the screen and then disappears. Maybe the webmaster or whoever is in charge of the page can help.Joe Cioffi wrote: Me and my wife just purchased a Cape Dory 22 and are now in the registry. The problem we are having is how do we access the registry to find other owners in our state. We tried all the opitions in the Registry of owners and nothing happens can anyone please help.

Re: Find Owners
The gentleman who suggested giving the system time to load is right on the money...I just exercised a little patience and the registry works fine....what a great resource! Thanks for the info.

Re: Walt or Catherine -- help!!!
I wonder if you are being fooled by the fact that the screen you reach when you go to the registry is the top of the entire registry. I just opened it in about 15 seconds with my super RoadRunner service. Take a look at the progress report at the foot of the screen to see how it is going and then scroll down to take a look. You ought to be able to see the top of the registry even if the entire table hasn't arrived. The registry is more than 400K Bytes. At 56 K bits/sec, it could take a minute or more under the best of conditions.
Good luck!

It worked the next day but slowly
Tried it again the next day and it opened OK. The first time it got to 98% downloaded and then stuck and didn't finish.Ken Coit wrote: I wonder if you are being fooled by the fact that the screen you reach when you go to the registry is the top of the entire registry. Re: It worked the next day but slowly
It sounds as if you are dealing with a congested link to the server.
There are sites we try to access from work, like the FCC site, which are impossible to reach, but I can get to them fairly easily from home. We have a slow link between the office here and our corporate port to the Internet, while my home link runs much faster.
Maybe you need to ping the site and figure out where the delay is. I'm not sure how to get the IP address for the site, but Walt can surely tell us what it is. The command is "ping" followed by the IP address: ping a.b.c.d The results would tell you how long it takes to get a small message to the server and back, listing all the points along the way. Below is an example that failed, but you ought to get the idea.
C:WINDOWS>ping rdudhcp1.nc.rr.com
Pinging rdudhcp1.nc.rr.com [24.93.67.64] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Ping statistics for 24.93.67.64:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
C:WINDOWS>
Maybe your ISP can help sort this out for you.
Regards,
Ken

Re: It's working
Joe and Tom,
The Registry page is working. It is a very large file and takes some time to load, even if you've got a fast connection rate to the internet (like LAN speeds or via a T1 or T3 line). If you're accessing the internet using a modem, it could take a minute or longer for the Registry to finish downloading, depending on the speed of your modem. Your connection may timeout before it completes. If it does, click on your browser's Reload or Refresh button and it should complete the download. Please try again. If you don't have any luck, send me an e-mail and I'll send you the info you're looking for.
Thanks,

Like Catherine said.
Like Catherine said - the page is large, and in the current versions of most popular browsers, you can't see the table until it is completely loaded. If anyone knows a way around this please let me know. In the meantime, I guess I should put a notice at the top of the page warning of delays.
If you want more sophistication, download CyberKit. It's postcardware, and can do all the Internet test functions. In particular, a traceroute will show you just where the bottleneck is.

Actually, the DOS command "ping toolworks.com" works just fine.Ken Coit wrote: Maybe you need to ping the site and figure out where the delay is. I'm not sure how to get the IP address for the site, but Walt can surely tell us what it is.
