I have two questions re planning to replace the standing rigging on a '79 CD 28: First, do any of you know what type of stainless steel the original rigging is made of---302/304 or 316? If the original is the 302/304 type, which I suspect it is, then if I want to go for the more corrosion resistant 316 (my boat is in south Texas), I'll have to go up in size (and price!) to maintain the same strength. Second, if you had to order ss wire from a catalog or web site, as I do, where or who would you order from? Thanks for your assistance.

Re: CD standing rigging type; additional info
I should add that I want to order the ss wire only, not with fittings attached. I will being using StaLok fittings. Thanks again.

Re: CD standing rigging type; additional info
Robert, 1 X 19 316 SS would be standard for standing rigging. there are many places to purchase the wire. Check sailnet on the web or Fl. wire & rigging in Miami as only a couple of sources.Robert wrote: I should add that I want to order the ss wire only, not with fittings attached. John,
Even stores like <a href="http://www.boatus-store.com/MC_Online/s ... >BoatUS</a> have standing rigging. You can order it or drop by the store and purchase or order it there. You should even be able to order it with the fittings that you want.
You should be able to purchase wire from any marine store or chandlery.
