Solar Vents

Does anybody know of any better quality solar vents than the lousy Nicro vents that will fit into the cutouts for the Nicro deckplates?

The Nicro vents plastic solar collection lens deteriorate rapidly and become brittle and break apart from the UV exposure, ironic eh?

I used to have a real nice Ronstan on another boat, does anyone know if they still make them?

Another problem, the shut off dam in the Nicro vents leak even when slid closed, no gasket I guess.

how old are your vents? mine is about 10 years old and although the shiney white has faded, it still works well and has never given me a problem. i was thinking of getting a new one, but if they are not quality anymore maybe i'll just paint this one.

They are 9 years old and have been bad for a year now, the lenses started cracking about four years ago and have finally just crumbled away. The vents themselves are still operational. The problem is the solar collector lens that I described in my last message. Mine are the stainless versions so I don't have an issue with the white plastic. I'm not buying another Nicro vent. I think they are generally low quality, although the fan motors hold up well and the stainless covers are good quality.
