Hi Tom,

I am wrapping up a rewrite of my Alberg article and I would like to find Carl's daughter. If you could find a copy
of his obituary, I would be greatly helped! Carl Alberg died on August 31, 1986 in Marblehead, MA.

I believe her name is: Corinne Burril and she has a son, Kaifser(?) Burril.
If you know of there whereabouts or if the obitiuary has any information I might be able to interview her about her
father. Andy Vavolotis of Cape Dory thought that Corinne and her son may live on the West Coast...

Thanks for any help you can provide,

I am struggling through the rewrite!

one of our chase boats is called Irma (Carl's wife). Several BYC members reported to me when I owned my Typhoon,
that the Typhoon was Carl's favorite design. Mostly heresy tough. But I am prejudiced.

Peabody Essex Musem has an Alberg Collection........

....of some of his designs and other stuff. The blueprints were (I think) donated by the family. I have a list of those designs around here somewhere. If you contact them, they will e-mail it to you. The list does not include the designs he did for Cape Dory. I believe those were propriatory.
The Mark II you refer to is the 30, not the 32. Alberg designed the 32, Clive Dent designed the 30MKII, Dieter Empacher (sp?) designed the 270 keel/centerboard. I think that's it for Cape Dory Designers.
I "gleened" this info from a whole bunch of Cape Dory brochures I have scanned. I wish I could find somebody to "host" them. I need about 100MB of space.
Perhaps if you contact The Peabody, they may have some contact info for you vis-a-vis the family.

Scott,

You've probably already seen this, but just in case you haven't, be sure to check out this article regarding Carl Alberg which is located on the Alberg 30 Assn's website at:

http://www.alberg30.org/

The Cape Dory 32 (I've got hull# 3) was designed by Carl Alberg and production of this model began in 1985. Cape Dory only built 11 of these beautiful boats. The Cape Dory 30 MKII was designed by Clive Dent.

You'll find the specifics concerning the Cape Dory boats, which include the designer of each model, on the CCDOA's website at:
