I recently purchased an autohelm2000 from Boat Stuff in Mystic Ct. My old Autohelm 1000 was just not quite enough for my CD 28. I have a remote unit for it, but I would really like to get the WindVan and the Radio Navigation Interface. Does anyone know where these can be purchased new or used....anybody have these items and want to sell them? This autohelm is an older one...probably from mid eighties.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Autohelm accessories--Wind Vane
I used to have an AutoHelm 1000 on TIA MARI (1979 CD 27) with the Wind Vane attachment. Worthless accessory. Save your money. It was about impossible to mount the vane in "clear" air. In addition the helm response was too slow. After the second unplanned gybe (in mild conditions) the vane was stored below and never used again.

Re: Autohelm accessories--Wind Vane
Mitch,
Nope, my experience was identical to yours. Worthless as it responds to the air off the sail as much as anything else. After the first year, we stowed it inside also..Want one free anyone? Maybe two even?
