boarding ladder

Post by Jim Stull »

I would appreciate information on what type of boarding ladder others have found to be usable with a CD25. In the interest of safety, I would like to mount a permanent ladder.
Thanks
Jim

I use a vinyl covered, 3 step, folding ladder on my 1976 CD25. The ladder is about 36" long which is suitable for use with the low freeboard of this boat. Longer, 4 step models are available. The u-shaped arms at the top are large enough to hook over the gunnel and into the cockpit or you can hang the ladder just over the toerail. When folded the ladder stows easily in a cockpit locker and can be deployed quickly. It does not leave marks on the hull and best of all is inexpensive.

I purchased a folding ladder from a company called Tops-In-Quality for use on my CD25D. It is mounted on the stern and works quite nicely.

Jim I don't know where you are located but I have a recommendation for
you. Contact JTR Enterprises in Gulfport, Florida ( essentially a neighboring community of St.Petersburg ). I have had many custom made
stainless components made by them. Items such as wind generator poles,
windlass mounts, boarding ladders, pulpits, stanchion bases etc, etc. They do absolutely beautiful work. They do a lot of original equipment components for various boat manufacturers in florida. They price their work extremely reasonable. They are actually a bargain compared to the mass produced stuff designed to sort of fit everything that ever came off the assembly line. Their address and phone is 1510 51st St. South, Gulfport,Fl. 33707. I believe the phone is still 813/321-6321. Just send them a drawing or sketch with dimensions and materials desired and they will get you a very fair estimate. They do excellent custom stainless work. Show Quality.....good luck.
Hope this info helps you out. I've used them for several different items on various boats including the beautiful wind generator pole I have on our CD30.

Steve... what's the hull number of your 25D? I have CD25D hull #2, and I am trying to locate as many of the 25D's as possible. Drop me a line if you see this.
