I just recently ran across this site, and noticed several old messages from CD 14 owners, who, like me, thought they owned the only CD 14 in existence. Actually, there are three in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, two (including mine) on Perrin Creek, where the York River runs into the Cheasapeake Bay. Both of these boats have the original rigging, but mine also has the original gunwales in excellent shape. Last year, however, I had to strengthen the bow by fitting a piece of oak under the bow and the gunwales so that the bow could withstand the tension of the halyard. I use my CD 14 exclusively for sailing, and she is very stout in some high seas on the Bay. I have never shipped any water in her other than spray from the bow. My only problem with the boat is the gunter rig. In a strong breeze, I find it hard to keep the gaff tight against the jaw at the top of the mast. I would appreciate hearing from other CD 14 owners at my email address, elow@ncsc.dni.us. Here's to other owners of a unique and classic boat!
