Recently experienced problem with head on CD 30...... when valve was switched to pump overboad rather into holding tank.... there is resistence while pumping... both on the intake and the flush out. now this maybe a coincedence....the seacock for the out take feels different.... looser than normal....any recomendations??
to clerify...when "y" valve is turned to the position to pump into holding tank..... no problems....when turned to pump overboard.......resistence on the pump handel.

Re: Head Problems.........
It doesn't sound like there is any problem in the pump or head if it pumps OK in the holding tank position. It sounds like you must have a blockage somewhere between the Y valve and the through hull. You might have a wad of something stuck in there, or the hose might have collapsed internally, or most likely you have barnacles or crystals growing in the through hull. Urine reacts with salt water and forms crystals that can block the opening. For minor cases pump vinegar through the head. For serious cases pump muriatic acid through the head. This is very caustic stuff so wear protection and pump outside the 3 mile limit. If it's barnacles you have to chip them off at the next haulout. Is your seacock closing smoothly? If it's barnacles usually they'll grow up inside and make it difficult or impossible to close the seacock. If you've had a recent haulout and know the through hull and seacock are not clogged, then it seems like it has to be the Y valve or the hose. If it were in the head itself or the pump it shouldn't work in the holding tank position any better. That's my best guess.Fred Picker wrote: Recently experienced problem with head on CD 30...... when valve was switched to pump overboad rather into holding tank.... there is resistence while pumping... both on the intake and the flush out. now this maybe a coincedence....the seacock for the out take feels different.... looser than normal....any recomendations??
