Hatch & Porthole leaks

I have a recently purchased '77 Cape Dory 28' with a few leaks in the main cabin hathch and portholes. Can someone refer me to a Cape Dory source that sells the rubber washers, which I think need to be replaced?

Replacement gaskets for the main cabin opening ports are available from Spartan Marine at the Robinhood Marine Center (800) 325-3287 or www.robinhoodyachts.com for a catalogue. Hatch parts should be ordered from the original hatch vendor--compare yours with those listed in a comprehensive marine catalogue. Hope this helps.

I had leaking from 'tired' gaskets on portholes and hatch.
As a short term measure, I sprayed the gaskets with WD-40
and scrubbed them with a brass brush, then applied
teflon grease. Later I put carnuba wax on them rubbing them
hard with a cloth.
The material seems to have swelled a little
and the leaking has ceased.

Steve,?br? I lost the first attempt at a reply because of a server problem so please excuse the short reply this time. ?p??br? You can make the gaskets yourself. Do a search on the words 'neoprene' or 'EDPM' or 'EPDM'. The old posts should explain how to do the job in a very inexpensive way. My girlfriend re-gasketed all of the hatches and ports this spring and they are all dry. ?p?Matt?p?
