CD30 Sailboat, +/- of buying 1977 vs. 80-82

Post by Rich Linda »

We are very interested in purchasing a CD30. Would anyone like to share with us the +/- of buying a 1977 vs. 1980-82, ie; construction details, layout, susceptibility to blistering, etc. Are there any CD30 owners on the west coast that are interested in selling? Thank you in advance.

I will be offering my CD30 Ketch for sell in a couple of weeks. It is a 1979 model in great shape, I just had the interior varnished and some of the teak under the companionway replaced. I will be repainting the bottom and putting a fresh coat of Armada on the exterior teak before I put it up for sale. The boat is located in Jackson, Mississippi. I will be asking $28,500.00.

As for your question about 1977 vs. 1982, I don't know of any major differences, except that a cutter rig and a ketch version are available on the earlier models, while most of the early eighties models I've seen are cutters. The Mk II version CD30 does have a different layout but the cost is significantly higher. I seen boats much newer than mine that looked ten years older than mine, I think it will depend on the conditions in which the boat was sailed and the care that was given.
Hope this helps'

JD makes an excellent point and most brokers will agree........AFTER TEN YEARS OF AGE, CONDITION IS EVERYTHING.
