Folks,
On my CD33, the exhaust has detached itself from my engine twice. The mechanic tells me there are only two bolts holding the Volvo exhaust on, and the weight of the exhaust assembly combined with the engine vibration makes it work itself loose. I've only had the boat for this one season, but this is occuring so far at the rate of once every three trips out. Not acceptable. It takes days to clean out the soot from the boat, and the upholstry and curtains have to be cleaned at considerable expense.
I haven't been down there in the engine compartment yet for a couple of reasons. For one, it's filthy with soot from the first, and now the second occurance. Second, the guy that "fixed" it the first time is going to fix it again for free, so I'll let him get dirty.
Has anyone experienced this? What can be done to get a more permanent fix?
Thanks,
Ron Flannery
