Technically I don't belong 'cause I'm sailing an Allied 24 (became CD 25), but I find this board great! After a year of lurking, I finally have a question.
Last year we had a small leak and this year, when I put the boat over I checked all the likely culprits and found the leak at the top of the rudder stuffing box. I've never messed with one of these before and would like to know: what are the chances I can stop the leak simply by tightening the nut on the top of the box?? Also, what are the chances that I can really mess something up (other than my knuckles) down there?
Many thanks, glorious sailing.

Re: Rudder post leak
I have a rudder post leak when I motor but not when I sail.
It is just a trickle, but liquid nonetheless. As far as I know
this is not unknown nor a cause for concern, but I would like
to hear others' comments.
