Hello All,
I was motoring at 2,400 RPMs for about 6 hours (no wind and a dinner reservation) when, with no warning like changing rpms or a change in sound, the engine just cut off. It would not restart even with a nicely charged battery and a strong starter motor. Inspection revealed no crimped hoses, a clear raw filter but did show a slow drip from the mechanical fuel pump - original to the 1982 boat. I pulled the hose from the pump to the filter and there was fuel in it. I reconnected the hose and bled the line to the top of the filter. Still, the engine would not start.
Does this sound like a bad pump?

MD7A stalled - fuel pump?

Re: MD7A stalled - fuel pump?
Update: mechanic confirmed the pump was blown. He had a replacement electric pump to get me home. Going to try tomorrow and then I will install the Volvo mechanical pump.

Thanks for closing the loop on this one. It's always good to find out how things turn out.
