Has anyone had any success installing a bowroller for a 20# CQR, or other clean mount for a Danforth? We're trying to figure out how to keep our deck clean without having to use our current pulpit-mounted Fortress anchor. Existing deck gear and lighting layout seem to prohibit an easy solution.

From West Marine you can get a Windline stanchion clamp that lets the wrist flange (on either side of the pivot) slide in. The Danforth (or Fortress) stows points up, inside or outside the pulpit as you see fit.Rick wrote: Has anyone had any success installing a bowroller for a 20# CQR, or other clean mount for a Danforth? I'm having a custom SS mount made as a point to attach a standard Simpson-Lawrence Bruce roller. It attaches on the flat space just behind the stem head and straddles the headstay; it also bolts via straps on either side of the foward-most part of the stem head flange The roller mounts cantilever to it and will flip up to attach to the top rail of the pulpit when you don't want a bowsprit in the way (i.e. to keep mooring pendants from fouling, if necessary, or to pull out in the fall.)
It will do nicely for mild conditions (and I hope will dampen tacking around the rode) but you can easily pull the rode into the factory fairleads if it gets a bit rough. When locked down, I think it may serve as a good point to set the drifter flying; with it and the 150 winged out it ought to make a good light weather downwind rig; sort of "poor-man's twins."
I puzzled over a design all winter but decided to go this way as I was not sure if a slant-mounted roller would tangle in mooring pendants. Also, this design doesn't prevent anything else from working normally, and puts the Bruce where I want it for most conditions.
The ideas came from one of Lin and Larry Pardey's books, BTW. I can send you a jpg once I get it in a week or so from Rose's machine shop in Gloucester, MA.

Re: CD27 anchor mount
I would be interested to see how this works out. I have struggled with the same problem as all other CD27 anchorers (An easier way). Please attach a pic and some comments as to how it works.
