Some time ago a fellow sailor posted a thread about a rubberized canvas bag
that could be mounted to cover the immersed portion of an outboard; then filled with fresh water
it would keep barnacles at bay.
Anyone know of the source?

Re: CD 25 In Water Care
Hi Dick,
I had one on my former CD25. It's one of those things that sounded good but was completely unworkable in practice. The only way to get the bag over the lower end was to pull the outboard out of the well and put the bag over it, then re-install and fill. At that point, you've done all the work to lift the engine out of the well that you might as well store the engine inside the boat, which is what I did when I was away from the boat for a couple weeks or more. Just one former owner's experience. I would love to hear from someone who found a good way to do it on a boat with a well.

Re: CD 25 In Water Care
I'm probably the one who made this suggestion (I still do it for my CD26). I use a 70-gallon dry bag, created a pvc pipe "frame" for the top, to keep the bag open, and tie two sections of tow-rope (floating) to the top, so I can grab the rope and pull it up through.
You can probably find my previous post and pictures under my user name.
This method only works if you are in a slip, because it involves some steps on the dock and some from the boat. You pump the salt water from the bag and refill with fresh water from the dock. The bag lasts for 2-3 years, and then I go on eBay and buy another.
