CD 25 windows
Re: CD 25 windows
Hi,
The CD25 looks to have fixed portlights/windows. On a previous boat(Tarten 30) I replaced the fixed windows with 3/8” thick plexiglas. Cannot remember the source (it was many years ago) but I do have material left over from the project ( 2 sheets, (1) 29” x 50” x 3/8” and (1) 29” x 26” x 3/8”). These have the protective liner/covering.
New sheets are probably pretty expensive and I’d let these go at a bargain price. I’m located just north of Boston.
If interested private message me.
Thanks

Re: CD 25 windows
I replaced 4 of the opening portlights on my boat with fixed, surface-mounted home-made portlights.
I found a good article on-line from Sail magazine which was my guide:
https://www.sailmagazine.com/diy/replac ... portlights
I used 1/4" thick plexiglass with a grey tint. I bought it pre-cut.
Plexiglass-
https://www.tapplastics.com/product/pla ... colors/519
Transparent Acrylic Sheets (Cut-to-Size) - Transparent Light Smoke - 57%
1/4 (.236)" Thick, 7 inches Wide, 17 inches Long, with rounded edges and 1 inch radius corners
total cost was $64 for two windows
To attach the plexiglass to the boat I used
3M VHB ( very high bond ) Tape # 4991 ( 1/2 " wide)
And to seal the edges of the plexiglass I used black Dow Corning 795 silicone.
The project was not very difficult, but you do need to be precise in measuring before ordering the plexiglass.
And you need to dry fit and mark (with tape) where you want to mount them because you only get one shot with the high bond tape.
They came out pretty good. Nothing to compare to original bronze Spartan ports but they don't leak a drop and have held up well for 5 years now.
