Solar Panel Mounted with Sea Dog Round Rail Clamps

Post by keneasley »

I found a good spot to mount a small, 50 watt flexible solar panel on Felicity yesterday.
I ran the wire up through the stainless steel pushpit rail. The previous owner had drilled a hole at the base of the vertical support and an exit hole on the horizontal top of the rail. So I used those.

I cut a board out of marine plywood and painted it with white enamel.
And I used these Sea Dog Round Rail Clamps that are bolted to the board and then attached to the rail.

They worked well and can be removed easily.

I wired the panel to a charge controller and then to the house battery.
Should be enough to keep the battery topped up.
The clamps made the project a fairly quick and simple task.

Looks fine. I used the same rail clamps to mount mine. I have a 100 watt panel.
