I revised my cruise plan to the Sea of Cortez because I spent too much time at the boatyard at Ensenada. I have been able to stick to my revised plan and visit some more places on the Pacific side. I stayed At Cedros island village for two weeks then went to Anchor for a few days at Bahia Tortuga (mark no. 3) Then I sailed down to Bahia Asuncion( 6) anchored a couple more days. I sailed 36 hrs to Bahia Santa Maria (8) Next day sailed into Bahia Magdelena and anchored at Puerta Magdelena (12) or Man a War Cove. Strong tides and wind kept me there for a week and now I’ve motored 10 mi upstream to Puerto San Carlos. Its a major shipping port and a nice clean village I want to stay here till April 10 ish
Boat is working perfectly. 50 watt solar panal keeps up the refer easily. Not sure if it can keep up with refer and auto pilot but I try to use the windvane as much as possible. I dont really use the solar when running I don’t have good mounts. Sometimes I strap it in place

Very nice John. Well done. Sounds like you have Leoma sorted out and set up well. How is the wind vane working with the worm steering gear?

Windvane is finniky. Sometimes it works well. Sometimes I don’t bother with it. Learning how to balance sails better. I plan to leave on Wednesday. I want to follow this route from Cornell’s cruising guide. Doesnt look like I’ll be anywhere close to Hawaii. Navionics says 2600 mi as the crow flys. I’m guessing 3500-4000. I read about so many getting 125 + per day but Im hoping at least 50 so 60-80 days. I have enough canned food to last the rest of my life. I’m at 24 n lat now. Hopefully far enough south to catch the trade winds. I will inreach my sister and have her post progress

I assume you have enough water? I don't know enough about the wx there to comment. I think the important consideration is to get over the Pacific High so you will get out of the calms and get some favorable westerlies. Will be looking for updates. Thanks. I’m wondering about that high The Hawaii route suggests staying more west 160 degrees This Panama route looks like it goes right thru the middle. I’ll have to be careful with water I have50 gallons. And 10 gal of juice. And lots of canned fruit. It will rain a lot at the upper Lats

Topping off water. Took last bath. Ready to go. Tried out storm sails Ready to leave. Weather fax is working great. Thanks John Stone. I found this book at my home marina. Has a lot of info hoe to interpret weather fax etc. Inreach mini has weather for a dollar ea. it’s hard to interpret as well.
